About HanziStroke

An interactive Chinese character learning platform built to make stroke order practice accessible, accurate, and free for learners worldwide.

Our Mission

Learning to write Chinese characters correctly is one of the biggest challenges for non-native learners. Stroke order matters — it affects character balance, handwriting speed, and long-term recall. Yet most resources either lack proper stroke animations or hide them behind paywalls.

HanziStroke was created to solve this problem. We provide free, interactive stroke order animations for over 11,000 Chinese characters, paired with printable practice worksheets, pinyin guides, and HSK-aligned vocabulary lists — everything a learner needs to build correct writing habits from day one.

How We Build Our Content

Every piece of content on HanziStroke is built on authoritative sources and verified against official standards.

Stroke Order Data

All stroke order animations follow the PRC standard writing order (GB/T standard). Each character's stroke sequence is verified against authoritative dictionaries to ensure correctness.

HSK Vocabulary

Our HSK word lists are sourced directly from the official HSK 2.0 and HSK 3.0 vocabulary standards published by the Chinese Testing International (CTI). We maintain both versions for learners at different stages.

Character Definitions

Pinyin readings, definitions, and compound word examples are cross-referenced with established Chinese-English dictionaries. Usage examples are curated to reflect natural, modern Chinese.

Quality Assurance

Content is reviewed by native Chinese speakers before publication. We continuously update our database to correct errors and incorporate user feedback from learners around the world.
